Introducing, Antoine, the inspiration behind Artwork By Antoine, LLC. A handsome bundle of joy, weighing in at 9 pounds and 7 ounces, he made his grand entrance into the world with a resounding cry as he declared his arrival in 1989. I still remember uttering the words, "He's so heavy," as I cradled him in my arms for the first time.
I was not ready for this little ball of energy. He seemed ready to conquer the world from day one. Born into a bustling household, that included his two uncles and one aunty who were all in elementary school, Antoine absorbed information like a sponge and was soon walking and talking at rapid pace. Surrounded by family eager to guide him through the intricacies of life, Antoine had a unique advantage. He learned well and when Antoine’s two siblings came along years later, he became their teacher.
There are individuals who stand out, not only for their talents, but for their vibrant personalities. Antoine was one such person – adventurous, imaginative, fearless, and strong his zest for life and creativity was evident from a young age. From the moment Antoine could hold a pencil, he was drawn to the world of art. His Uncle Lamont, a talented artist, served as his muse and mentor. With each stroke of his pencil, Antoine found a piece of himself, layering his ideas onto a canvas with raw enthusiasm. While art was Antoine's first love, basketball also held a very special place in his heart. The rhythmic bounce of the ball, the swish of the net, and the adrenaline rush of competition fueled his spirit and perfectly captured his essence of sportsmanship and determination.
I believe, art and basketball, gave Antoine a sense of freedom. He was comfortable being who he was… He was just cool like that…
